Livestock Changes for 2008
Sales: The sale for small animals will be Saturday night, Sept. 13 at 5 pm. Sale for large animals will be Friday night, Sept. 12 at 5pm. This change will be in effect for 5 years.
Sheep & goats will be tagged & weighed Saturday, June 7 from 8-11 am. Hogs must be brought in at this same time to be tagged in both ears. Animals brought in must not be covered by anything such as a blanket, towel, etc. Lost sheep, goats, or hogs must be replaced no later than July 7.
Rabbits will have their ears tagged this year instead of tattooed. This will be done on July 28. Re-tagging for lost rabbits wil lbe August 11.
Feeder calves wil lbe tagged by the Jr. Exhibitor's advisor no later than August 1.
Order of sale for Friday night will be: sheep, hogs and beef. Order of sale for Saturday night will be: goats, rabbits and poultry.
OTHER CHANGES FOR 2008:
Market rabbits and all poultry must be brought to the fairgrounds Saturday, September 6 between 8 am and 5 pm. No exceptions! Horses, goats, beef, sheep and swine must be grought to the fairgrounds Sunday, September 7 between 8 am and 5 pm. No exceptions.
Breeding sheep may be taken home immediately following the sheep show, but if not taken then, they must remain on the grounds until breeding animals are released on Friday of the fair.
Small animals will be shown at 8 am on Monday, September 8 at 8 am. The breeding and pet rabbits will be shown immediately following the small animals (9:30 am, approximate time). All Rabbit Showmanship classes will be held during this show. Breeding & Pet Rabbits and small animals will be brought the day of the show only.
Showmanship classes will be as follows: 16, 17 and 18 year olds, 13, 14 and 15 year olds, 11 and 12 year olds, 8, 9 and 10 year olds, Beginner -12 years and under and Sweepstakes. Pre -registration is required and entries must be made at entry time. Ages will all be as of January 1 of 2008.
Dog Show will be run by 4-H rules and exhibitors will be required to clean up after their dogs.
All market animal classes will be limited to 10 -12 animals per class.
Beef futurity classes will be deleted.
Exhibitors will be required to remove all feeding containers from their pens as soon as their animals have finished eating. Water may be left in the pens, but must be kept fresh and clean at all times.
Exhibitors who do not clean their pens will be given one warning to clean them up. If they don't clean them, they will be ordered to take their animals home immediately.
Goat Classes: Dairy: Milkers - Doe has kidded/freshened, Dairy Kid, Dry Yearling. Meat: Milkers- Doe has kidded/freshened, Meat Kid or Yearling - Doe has never kidded. A grand & reserve champion wil lbe chosen for meat and dairy does. Angoras and pygmys will be classed together. Horns are NOT allowed, period. Scurs may make a goat inelligible if they are too large! Have them checked beforehand. Superintendents have the right to send them home if they do not meet these requirements.
Horses: After exhibitors scratch 2 times, they are done for the show. No re-entering after scratching! No Fun Shows during the fair. Horses must be in their stalls no later than 5 PM every day. Exhibitors have the option of bringing in their horses the day of the show and leaving immediately following the show if they want. However, horses that stay at the fair must stay all week. Those who come for the show only must park their trailers in the brick yard.
ART HALL CHANGES FOR 2008
Each person making entries must purchase at least a one-day exhibitor's pass in order to make entries.
Entry fees remain at $.80 per item for all Art Hall categories.
Special Award category winners will receive $10.00 for first place and $5.00 for second place. Special Award categories for 2008 will be as follows: Foods: Decorated Cakes, Produce: Scarecrows, Paintings/Drawings: Pen & Pencil Drawings and Water Color and Acrylic Paintings, Hobbies: Antique Hand Tools, Sewing/Needlework: Quilted Items, Flowers: Arrangements.
No Art Hall results will be given by phone. Results will be listed in the Art Hall.
Art Classes will be listed for Logan High School students only. This group must make entries through their teachers, and entries must be made by Friday of the first week of school. Students must pay the $.80 entry fee for each class they enter.
PHOTOGRAPHY/PAINTINGS CHANGES:
Exhibitors may make up to 14 entries in these departments, but only one entry in each class division.
A category for BARNS will be added to each category in this department.
All sizes are FRAME SIZE.
Cateories in Color & Black & White will be added for: Matted Collage and Regular Collage.
PRODUCE:
A sign-up sheet for Painted Pumpkin entries will be kept in the office.
FOODS:
Drop & Bar Cookie Classes will be deleted.
CANNED GOODS:
Delete Spaghetti Sauce & Dehydrated Fruits & Vegetables.
Combine Jellies, Jams & Preserves into one category.
HOBBIES:
Add categories for an Antique Christmas Ornamnet, Hobby Collection ( 10 items), and Antique Hand Tools.
Change Christmas Decoration to Christmas Ornament.
HOURS
Change time to bring entries to Art Hall Departments to: 12 Noon to 5:00 PM.
Change Hours to tear down Art Hall and pick up entries on Sunday following the fair to 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM.
